Career Connections is a suite of services provided by Melbourne RSL Sub-Branch to help veterans and members build careers, expand networks, and find new opportunities. Whether you’re transitioning to civilian life, advancing in your current role, or looking to start a business, Career Connections offers practical support through three key programs:
Build Connections. Share Experience. Enhance Your Career.
Our networking events are designed to connect veterans with professionals, entrepreneurs, and industry leaders. Each gathering includes a mix of informal networking and guest speakers presenting on relevant topics such as career advancement, entrepreneurship, and transitioning to civilian work.
Benefits:
Expand your professional network
Learn from experienced speakers and peers
Access mentorship and career pathways
Gain practical skills and ideas to apply in your career
A Professional Space with a Community Spirit.
Our clubrooms now double as a shared office space, a flexible, veteran-friendly environment with Wi-Fi, hot desks, and meeting spaces. The facilities are open to members, veterans, and supporters who want a professional space to work while enjoying the camaraderie of others.
The shared office environment also supports the formation of Special Interest Groups (SIGs)—smaller communities that focus on shared interests such as business start-ups, leadership, health and wellbeing, or technology.
Benefits:
Affordable shared office in a supportive environment
Access to Wi-Fi, workspaces, and meeting areas
Collaborate with peers and mentors
Join or form SIGs to explore areas of shared interest
Guidance, Support, and Confidence for Your Career Path.
Our Career Mentoring Program matches veterans with experienced mentors from both military and civilian backgrounds. Through structured conversations (face-to-face or online) and ongoing support, mentors help participants explore career options, set goals, and build the skills needed to succeed in civilian employment or business ventures.
Benefits:
One-on-one mentoring tailored to your goals
Access to networks and professional opportunities
Support in navigating the transition from service
Build confidence, direction, and career readiness
By engaging in these services, veterans and members will:
Strengthen professional and personal networks
Gain access to career-enhancing resources
Learn from experienced mentors and industry leaders
Collaborate in a supportive, community-first environment
